Liftra Modernises Global File Synchronisation Without a Disruptive Infrastructure Refresh

October 12, 2026

Global wind technology company deploys PeerGFS to improve project file access and productivity for distributed teams

London, UK – 13 October 2026 – Peer Software, a leading provider of enterprise file services and data management solutions, today announced that Danish engineering company Liftra has avoided a costly and disruptive storage infrastructure upgrade by deploying PeerGFS, a solution that enables real-time file replication and synchronisation across distributed environments.

The solution has eliminated file replication delays, enabling engineers across worldwide operations to access the latest CAD files faster, collaborate more effectively and keep complex projects moving.

Headquartered in Denmark, Liftra designs and manufactures specialist lifting and transport solutions for the global wind energy industry. With engineering teams working across Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific, the company needed a more efficient way to manage and synchronise large volumes of engineering and project data between sites.

Its existing Microsoft DFS Replication (DFS-R) environment was no longer meeting the demands of its globally distributed workforce. Slow synchronisation between locations, limited visibility into file activity and increasing storage constraints at remote sites were creating inefficiencies for engineering teams collaborating on complex projects.

Rather than replacing its existing infrastructure, Liftra implemented PeerGFS across its global file environment, integrating the solution alongside existing NetApp, Dell, Windows and Linux systems. The transition from DFS-R was completed with zero downtime.

Following deployment, the company has:

  • Eliminated the replication delays associated with its previous environment.
  • Improved access to large engineering and SolidWorks CAD files across global locations.
  • Increased confidence that engineers are working from the latest file versions.
  • Reduced storage pressure at edge locations through intelligent edge caching.
  • Extended the life of existing infrastructure, avoiding a costly hardware refresh.

The deployment also introduced a highly available architecture across key locations, providing greater resilience while maintaining local access to critical engineering data. By keeping frequently used project files available at the edge while synchronising changes in real time, PeerGFS enables Liftra’s engineers to collaborate more efficiently regardless of location.

“We went live with no downtime at all – in fact the only reason our teams knew there had been a change was because it was now quicker to download files, easier to collaborate and version control was more certain. After implementation, support from the Peer Software team has been spot on too, with great coverage and responsiveness,” said Daren Husk, Group IT Manager at Liftra.

“As organisations face growing data demands and rising infrastructure costs, the ability to maximise existing storage investments is increasingly important. Liftra’s deployment of PeerGFS demonstrates how businesses can overcome file replication challenges, improve global data access and avoid unnecessary infrastructure upgrades,” said Jimmy Tam, CEO of Peer Software.
