LJA’s rapid expansion and growing project portfolio created increasing demands and stress on its storage infrastructure
The company’s previous cloud-based storage solution struggled to keep pace with performance needs, resulting in slow file access, frequent outages tied to AWS disruptions, and significant business downtime; sometimes forcing entire offices to close for the day.
The engineering teams’ reliance on large CAD files and the need for real-time collaboration across offices required a more reliable, performant and flexible solution. Leadership prioritized regaining control over infrastructure, eliminating single points of failure, and ensuring continuous access to critical project data.
At that time, a trusted consultant recommended Peer Global File Service (PeerGFS) to the company. Citing its proven capabilities in real-time, bidirectional file replication, integrated global file locking, and a resilient distributed architecture utilizing company managed infrastructure, PeerGFS offered capabilities that were well-suited to support LJA‘s evolving branch office operations.
Solution
- Two active-active production data centers, fully synchronized with PeerGFS.
- Replication to 75+ sites, with 29 leveraging PeerGFS Edge Data Management for fast, efficient local file access.
- Integration with Microsoft DFS Namespaces for automated failover and transparent data access for users.
- Flexible deployment on LJA’s own VMware and Nutanix-based virtual infrastructure, avoiding hardware lock-in.
Additionally, LJA utilizes Peer‘s TAM (Technical Account Management) Services, led by a dedicated expert with deep enterprise experience, TAM Services provides responsive, hands-on support – a crucial factor in LJA‘s ongoing success.
Results
By eliminating reliance on a single cloud provider, LJA mitigated outages that had previously halted operations across the entire organization.
Performance gains were also realized via faster file access speeds for large files. While the solution‘s scalability supported the company‘s growth – easing expansion from roughly 16 sites to over 75 locations.
