The Company

McClure is a multidisciplinary engineering firm providing civil, structural, transportation, survey, landscape architecture, and development services throughout the United States

With more than 250 employees and 13 offices, McClure supports complex, collaboration-heavy projects that rely on large design files and specialized engineering applications. As the firm has grown through expansion and acquisition, maintaining reliable access to shared project data has become increasingly critical.

The Challenge

McClure’s distributed workforce depends heavily on large CAD and design files, with teams using a mix of Autodesk, Bentley, Trimble, Rhino, and specialized structural analysis tools. The firm manages active data across thousands of synchronized folders.

McClure’s environment, hosted and maintained by a Managed Service Provider (MSP), became unstable over time as the company expanded. Network disruptions, file synchronization issues, and frequent quarantines began impacting day-to-day operations and end users.

McClure briefly attempted to remedy the situation with cloud-based services, but the move quickly proved unsuccessful. The cloud platforms failed to deliver consistent performance across the firm’s diverse application stack and could not support all teams universally. Leadership ultimately recognized the need for a stable, enterprise-grade solution that could deliver reliability, performance, and broad application compatibility.

Solution

McClure chose Peer Global File Service as the foundation of its distributed file infrastructure.

A key differentiator was Peer Software’s hands-on white-glove technical support and on-site engagement. Working closely with Peer’s technical team, McClure stabilized and optimized its deployment by addressing network considerations, configuration issues, and operational best practices.

Results

Through the implementation of Peer Global File Service paired with specialized, hands-on support, McClure evolved its file services infrastructure to meet the needs of its diverse engineering teams and applications while supporting the firm’s future scalability.

We support engineers across multiple offices who rely on very large design files. PeerGFS gives our teams fast, local access while keeping data synchronized across locations, which has made a noticeable difference in day-today productivity
