Peer DRS Help > Getting Started > Licensing & Registration

Peer DRS is licensed on a per database server instance basis for most of the supported replication modules e.g. MS SQL Server.  In the case of the MS Exchange Server replication module, it is licensed on a per Exchange server instance basis.  For example, if you are interested in replicating all databases stored on a single instance of MS SQL Server on a server to another MS SQL Server instance serving as a standby (running on a different server or on the same server), then you will need to purchase a Peer DRS MS SQL Server license for 2 database instances.  However, if you are only interested in backing up a single MS SQL Server instance and replicating all database changes to one or more target servers, but don’t need to restore the data into any MS SQL Server instance then you would only need to purchase a license for one database instance.

Installing or Upgrading a License File

After purchasing or requesting a trial download of Peer DRS, you will receive a license file for each Peer DRS replication module that you purchased or requested a trial of.  To install a new license file or upgrade an existing license go to the Help menu and select the License Information menu item.

Click the browse button and select the new license file to install.  Once selected, click the Add button to install the license file.  If a license already exists for the same replication module then the existing license will be overridden with the new license.  After successful installation of the license file, the license will be displayed in the Installed Licenses table along with licensed quantity and an expiration date (if applicable).
