The Job Failures View allows you to view all job failures that have occurred for any configured replication job over a period of time and details which part of the replication process failed.

This view can be activated by clicking on the Job Failures menu item from the View menu or by selecting the Job Failures radio button just below the Replication Job List table.  When this view is activated, the Job Summary Panel is updated with the Job Failure Table depicted below.  If a single replication job was selected then only job failure events for that replication job will be displayed, otherwise if no jobs were selected then all job failures events will be displayed.

The job failures will automatically be sorted by failure date in descending order.  However, you can sort the list by any column type by clicking on the column header.  You can also obtain more detailed information on any table cell value by mousing over a field which will cause a tool tip to popup.  For example to see the complete Alert error message, just place the mouse over the Alert Message to popup the full error message.  To update the contents of the failure list and to see if any additional job failure events occurred you can click the Refresh button located in the Job Failure Toolbar.  Below is a list of all job failure field names along with a description:

Date

Date and time that the failure occurred.

Job Name

The Replication Job name the failure belongs to.

Action

Replication action being performed:  Backup, Copy, Restore

Type

Type of backup file:  Full or Incremental

Primary Database

The associated Primary Database name

Target Database

If applicable, the Target Database name being restored or copied to.

File

The backup file associated with the Action that was performed.

Alert Message

Shows current alert conditions for the job.  An alert will be displayed if there was an error executing the last backup or an error with copy or restoring to and of the configured targets.  Mousing over the field will display the entire alert message.

By default, only the last 500 job failures will be displayed.  You can increase or decrease this quantity by updating the Display Failures Spinner at the top right of the Job Failure Panel and clicking the Refresh button.  The maximum number of failures you can display in the Job Failure table is 3000.  There is a  visual indicator at the bottom of the Job Failure table that shows the number of failures being displayed and the total number of stored job failures.  If you need to display more job failures than 3000, or would like to import all job failures into another program, then you can select the Export to File option located in the Job Event Toolbar.  Exported job events are stored in a tab delimited format.
