Peer Software Announces PeerSync Observer II™ for Centralized Monitoring of Backup/Synchronization Activity Across Enterprise

Enterprise Edition v1.1 utility provides easily accessible, in-depth monitoring of each instance of PeerSync™ activity across the LAN

Ronkonkoma, NY — February 22, 2007— Peer Software, Inc., a global provider of enterprise-grade file and network management solutions for hundreds of Fortune 500 companies and government agencies, today announces PeerSync Observer II, Enterprise Edition v1.1, a tool that provides centralized monitoring of all instances of PeerSync enterprise-wide. PeerSync is Peer Software’s flagship backup/synchronization tool; Observer II is a receptor application that receives specific information on each instance of PeerSync™ on the network, providing administrators with a single console from which to monitor all PeerSync-related activity.

With versions of PeerSync installed for each individual server, the process of monitoring each instance – and responding to individual alerts – can become unwieldy. With Observer, users simply query the network, which then populates the GUI with relevant information on each instance of PeerSync. A status bar associated with each server on which PeerSync is running provides color-coded, at-a-glance “feedback” every three seconds: white means all processes are functioning normally, yellow indicates a looming problem, and red signals that something needs immediate attention. Grey is an indication that an instance of PeerSync has been manually terminated (i.e., it’s installed on the server but is not running).

The Activity Table displays more in-depth PeerSync™ Profile activities in tabular format. This is the primary visual feedback display for all connected and running PeerSync™ applications on the network. Through this display administrators can find detailed information about one or more connections and exercise a degree of control over each connected and running PeerSync™ application.

“Providing a centralized means of monitoring PeerSync activity across the enterprise simplifies the task of assuring that all backup and synchronization processes are performing optimally,” said Paul Marsala, President of Peer Software. “The Observer utility is, essentially, an administrator’s eyes and ears and will significantly enhance all data availability/disaster recovery schemes built around PeerSync.”

Since its introduction in 1993, PeerSync has been used by thousands of organizations to keep their data secure, in-sync, and available continuously, without interruption. PeerSync unobtrusively monitors connections between storage points (e.g., server to server, desktop to server, desktop to desktop) and provides a range of manual, scheduled, and/or real-time file backup and synchronization routines. In addition, users can select multiple source-target configurations for speed and flexibility when dealing with multiple computers and storage devices.
